The light and colors that reach their bodies are appearances by which Balthus (1908-2001) recovery by excavation by archaeologists, the human mind. E 'dedicated to him and other Surrealist painters collection of writings on art Antonin Artaud, drawn from the comprehensive and just reissued. "Tired of a painting of maggots," the French artist of Polish origin represents the reaction psychic automatism of Surrealism. As well as paintings by Andre Masson who discover "glimpses of the world" and those of Jean de Bossche passing "behind the wall," appearances are passing a current now perceived as the "revolution of Castro". Through the analysis of artists more congenial to him and their relationship with Surrealism, an art critic Artaud marks the distance from the movement which he joined in 1924, leaving him two years later. A selection of twenty-one texts of the famous playwright French reveals that the relationship between poetry and art that the author must, as the pre-Renaissance painting, transmit "the vibration of the soul, the deep tensions of the Universe."
